Netgear N750 Review – WNDR 4300 Fast Wi-Fi Router

The Netgear N750 is a dual-band router that delivers excellent Wi-Fi speeds with decent wireless coverage to boot.

It can provide Wi-Fi to medium and large residences and can also support multiple connected devices simultaneously.

The N750 is fast enough to allow for seamless HD video streaming and allow for a smooth online gaming experience as well.

The system comes pre-installed with all necessary security protocols and provides convenience with its Netgear Genie app.

The N750 rating designates the overall optimum speeds that the router can deliver to its clients.

Of course, this is theoretical, and other factors will need to be considered to determine the actual maximum throughput of a router.

When optimized in both location and setup, we do believe that the N750 can easily crack that 750Mbps.

That number is not as far-fetch nowadays, and modern routers can quickly blast past that limit. In particular, the Netgear N750 manages to reach this speed by using two wireless channels.

Each channel clocks in around 300Mbps and 450Mbps – which adds up to 750Mbps total.

The N750 also manages to achieve reliable Wi-Fi coverage and should have no problems supporting devices in a medium-sized home.

For larger homes, the strategic placement of the router is vital to optimizing its range.

Also, the N750 router comes with the Netgear Genie app and is Ipv6 compatible making it one of the most affordable future-proofed routers today.

Is Netgear N750 a Good Router?

Overall, the Netgear N750 manages to deliver an excellent performance to this day.

With its affordable price tag and decent speed and range, the Netgear N750 should provide excellent wireless performance for small to medium homes without much problem.

So, to answer that question – yes, the Netgear N750 is a pretty good router for those looking for something more budget-friendly without sacrificing quality.

Netgear N750 WNDR 43000 Router Review

 Intro

Our initial trial run with the Netgear N750 was quite promising. It managed to deliver fast throughput at close range with the 2.4GHz channel.

The 5GHz manages to achieve around 450Mbps within a range of 10 to 15 feet.

Another noteworthy aspect of N750 is its design. It takes up minimal footprint thanks to its vertical base.

It can easily fit on your shelf along with your books. The compact and sleek design makes it a suitable choice for smaller homes or those with limited space for routers.

Let us go into further detail about how the Netgear N750 fairs with some of the routers within the same price range. Is it still a good router?

 Design

The Netgear N750 router is a sleek book-shaped device that is designed to be compact and with conservative aesthetics.

You can install it in either a horizontal or vertical position, and it will look nice either way. As a bonus, the Netgear N750 also offers users the option of being wall-mountable.

Flip the router around, and you will see several ports. It features Gigabit Ethernet support and delivers five ports in total.

The first four are LAN ports, and the last one is a WAN port for modem use. You will also notice a USB port here as well.

Back over on the front side of the router are several LED lights that show the status of your router.

The LEDs change color depending on the status of your ports and wireless network, which makes checking the current status of your router incredibly easy.

Along with the LED lights is the WPS button that allows users to connect a client to the network without going through the standard security protocol.

The N750 is also among the first dual-band routers that Netgear released, and it still holds up to this day, which is a testament to the quality of their products.

The N750 can broadcast both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands at the same time which significantly boosts its throughput.

Also, this router can utilize two Guest Network Access at the same time.

This is good news for those who do not want to give visitors access to their network and wish to protect their shared files and other personal information.

By using the Guest Network Access feature, you can have other devices access to the internet through your router but not through your network.

Guest network access is has become an essential part when it comes to improving the level of security that your system has.

Having two available pretty much covers the basics while also providing a safety net.

Another reason why having a Guest Network Access in place within your router network is to ensure that other devices won’t be able to access specific connected devices such as printers.

This will also help avoid others from peeking into essential files that are shared within your network.

As for the number of devices the Netgear N750 can support, expect it carry up to 64 devices at once.

This is because each band (2.4GHz and 5GHz channels) can each support up to 32 devices.

This is a pretty impressive number for an affordable router deliver.

 Security

Expect the standard router security system here. Users will have access to Wi-Fi security encryption such as WEP, WPA, and WPA2.

It is essential to activate these settings as soon as possible to avoid network intrusions from unknown devices.

Of course, if you need to reconnect a bunch of devices at once, you can always use the WPS button that gives you a 2-minute window that allows previous WPS-enabled clients to reconnect without the need to input the Wi-Fi password manually.

The N750 router also supports file sharing and is compatible with Windows SMB software.

This makes sharing files incredibly easy with the Netgear N750 router as you can use Windows Explorer as the default network browser to access data shared within said network.

Once you connect an external hard drive to the router, all the content within that HDD will automatically be available to all devices connected.

If you prefer, though, you can place encryption that will restrict other clients from opening the files by making it password protected.

Turning on this setting will immediately limit the data from devices other than the administrator account.

This is a pretty rudimentary security measure but is still highly effective in preventing accidentally sharing personal data to other clients in your home network.

Note that the NAS server offers more advanced versions of this security system. That being said, this is quite a helpful feature for a router to have on the get-go.

The Netgear N750 also comes with DLNA support. This allows the router to pool over multimedia files for easier sharing and streaming with other devices.

The N750 can automatically connect with other DLNA-enabled devices such as gaming consoles. The N750 will also automatically search hard drives that you connect to its USB port.

It will scan for media files and assign them to a specific shared folder which will make sharing faster and easier.

The router also has a built-in NAS functionality that will handle the FTP and HTTP server along with other NAS specific operations.

Another advantage offered by the N750 is its compatibility with dynamic DNS services. This feature allows users to access data with whichever wireless device they have on hand.

Of course, you will need to install any additional software (such as dyndns.org) if your internet connection is set to static.

How Do I Setup My Netgear Nighthawk WNDR4300?

As with all Netgear routers, installation is as easy as 1-2-3. Of course, you can go in-depth and check through every setting available on the router’s interface, but most likely, you won’t need to go the extra mile during this process.

Installation and setup can be completed within 5 minutes. Once you have booted up the router, connect your device either via wired connection or through Wi-Fi.

Once your device is connected to the router, go to the router’s web interface by typing ‘routerlogin.net’ on the address bar.

You can also opt to use the Netgear Genie to handle the installation process and beyond.

This app is compatible with Android and iOS devices which means you can check the status of your network right from your phone.

The Netgear Genie is designed to be as user-friendly as possible, and we doubt anyone will have difficulty utilizing this app.

At most, it will take you 10 minutes to complete setup either via the web browser or the Netgear Genie app.
